With hundreds of nominations, Macquarie Home Stay won the Award from a strong field of community contributors. The winners were announced at an Awards Gala Presentation Dinner at the Shangri-La Sydney on Saturday 29th November 2025. Macquarie Home Stay of Dubbo (MHS) is committed to transforming regional healthcare access and wellbeing. The not-for-profit accommodation facility supports patients and families from across rural and regional NSW who travel for medical treatment. Entirely self-funded, MHS reduces the emotional and financial strain of accessing healthcare by offering affordable, compassionate accommodation. Since opening, MHS has hosted over 13,000 bed nights annually, raised substantial amounts through fundraising, and engaged over 300 volunteers through programs like Friends of MHS and its guest concierge service. Their 2025 completion of the CWA of NSW Guesthouse, a 26-room facility supporting cancer patients, earned a Master Builders Association Award.

Managing Director Rod Crowfoot of MHS attended the award ceremony. “What a thrill for us to receive such a significant award. Being associated amongst so many quality finalists and to be recognised at a state level speaks to the quality of the business we operate. Having our business assessed through the independent lens of the judging panel gives us great confidence in what we do, our business structures and longevity. As we approach 7 years of providing our service, this is the first award MHS has received. It recognises the leadership of our Board of Directors, the effort of our whole team and the contribution we make to our community ”.

The Small Business award recognises businesses making important economic and social contributions. The award promotes those who "give it a go" through determination, innovation, hard work and self-motivation, rewarding those who make their own luck and opportunities a reality.
